Arthropods are animals that are bilaterally symmetrical and have an exoskeleton.  An exoskeleton is a hard shell that surrounds the body like an armor and it protects and supports the body.  Arthropod means jointed legs or limbs.  The most common number of legs is either six or eight.  There are arthropods that have many more legs such as millipedes and centipedes.

Les Insectes
An online book written in French published over a century ago.  There are colored drawings of insects.  The groups that I saw were coleopteran, orthopteran, hemipteran, and hymenoptera.  There are a lot of blank pages.
